They find themselves trapped in a horrific affair and yearning for freedom
Story
Three women in their apartment in Marseille caught in a heat wave. Temperatures rise in the south of France, the air boils in Marseille, people are advised to stay at home and enjoy each other’s company.
This picture is Noemi Merlan’s directorial debut and she does it with a bang
However, Denise grew tired of the company of her ever-hungry, abusive husband, so she stabbed him with a shovel and then strangled him to death on their balcony. This is how the story begins, but Denise is not the main character: the plot revolves around three younger women, Nicole, Ruby and Elise, who decide to have a little Nicole and Elise date; tonight and they will never stop.
She is not afraid to combine all existing film genres into one: horror, love story, thriller, drama, comedy, etc
But she doesn’t seem to care about the genre, what she cares about is making her message very clear. She says, no, scream, scream, scream: many women are raped, assaulted, humiliated, oppressed and victim-blamed on a daily basis by men, most of whom are their boyfriends, husbands or neighbours.

Noemi doesn’t want to get away with them, and neither do her grotesque characters, who will find their liberation and they don’t care what the cost. Amazing, gritty, graphic and very confident debut.
