Story
Two Harkonnen sisters battle forces that threaten the future of humanity and form the fabled sect that becomes known as the Bene Gesserit. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women embody what science fiction is all about. This series uses material from Brian Herbert and Kevin J. A prequel to the original Dune, it tells how the Sisterhood of Rossak evolved into the Bene Gesserit. The incident in which Valya Harkonnen uses her voice comes from a book called Mentats of Dune.

All three books weave together the evolution of the Sisterhood, the Mentats, the Navigators, and the Suk doctors. Dune Prophecy is set ten thousand years before Paul Atreides joined the Fremen to lead a rebellion on Arrakis and overthrow House Harkonnen. The later films are based on Frank Herbert’s classic science fiction novel, in which Atreides’ rise to power sparks a bloody war, and tell a stunning story about controlling the Spice drug from Arrakis, allowing him to dominate the universe. Dune: Prophecy (2024), based on the novel Dune, follows the two Harkonnen sisters, Valya Harkonnen (Emily Watson) and Tula Harkonnen (Olivia Williams), as they fight forces that threaten the future of humanity and form the fabled sect that becomes known as the Bene Gesserit. The first episode begins with a flashback that showed us the Butlerian Jihad, a war waged by humans against the thinking machines.

Later, on Wallach IX, young Valya Harkonnen (Jessica Barden) promises Mother Superior Raquella (Cathy Tyson) that she will protect the Sisterhood by placing one of them on the Imperial throne. Thirty years later, Valya faces a threat to her long-awaited plan. Meanwhile, on the eve of the great Landsraad meeting, Valya puts her plan to redeem House Harkonnen into action, Ynez confronts her father with rumors about Desmond, and Kieran makes plans to advance a rebel attack that the Sisterhood must try to thwart. Then terrible events occur, while in the meantime Valya recruits Theodosia to handle the situation in Salusa Secundus, and Tula recruits Lila for an important mission, and a young Valya tries to take the Sisterhood vow. The saga of Dune is far from over…!

This science fiction work “Dune: Prophecy” (2024-) shines with a stunning production design, an intricate plot and an all-star cast. The first few episodes slowly introduce us to the characters and give us some explanations, but I think they did a pretty good job of describing them and preparing us for the future episodes.

The following characters stand out: the two sisters of the psychic sisterhood, played by Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and their young reincarnations in flashbacks: Jessica Bardem, Emma Canning; the ambitious Emperor Javicco Corrino, played by Mark Strong, his wife Empress Natalya: Jodhi May; Princess Ynez Corrino, played by Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, and the arrival of a mysterious and suspicious traveler with dark intentions, played by Travis Fimmel. This series is set about 10,000 years before the events of the first Dune book. Here, two Hannoken sisters found the mysterious, all-female order called the Bene Gesserit and fight against forces that threaten humanity. A colorful and overwhelming series that leads to a spectacular journey through the wonders of space and the mysteries of time, from the limits of the unbelievable to the limits of the impossible.
