Paul King, the director of the previous two films, decided not to direct this installment
Paddington returns to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now lives at the Retirement Bears Home. The Brown family embarks on a thrilling adventure as a mystery takes them on an unexpected journey. However, he came up with the idea for this third film and is on board as an executive producer.
Paddington in Peru is a pretty nice, if unremarkable, film
The film stars Graham Norton and guests include: Billy Crystal/Emily Mortimer/Hugh Bonneville/Pharrell Williams/Michael Kiwanuka (2024). It certainly won’t reach the heights of Paddington 2, but it’s likely to be just as good as the first. With a different director at the helm, this film also takes on a different perspective, taking the action out of London and into the Peruvian jungle.
It makes for a reasonably interesting story that flows quite well and keeps a decent pace
This is probably a wise choice, as it helps the film feel fresh and different from the other two. It also makes room for a slightly different story, where this one is perhaps more adventurous and interesting. The humor is a bit average, but it’s definitely more geared towards kids, so it reflects my age more than anything else.
It’s nice and gentle
I also think the emotional side is a bit lacking. I remember Paddington 2 making me cry, but this feels a little more gentle. I think that word sums up this movie, actually.
