All episode titles are taken from songs by heavy metal/hard rock bands
Story
Follows a failed high school heavy metal band of misfits who take advantage of the town’s sudden interest in the occult to build a reputation as a Satanic Metal band, until a strange series of events sparks a witch hunt that leads back to them.
This show captured the year 1989, the Satanic Panic, and the style of all those old supernatural horror movies to a tee
Hysteria by Def Lepard, Heaven’s on fire by KISS, Speaking in tongues by Meatloaf, Can I play with madness by Iron Maiden, Die young by Black Sabbath, Mother by Danzig, It’s late by Queen, and Dance Macabre by Ghost.
At least I hope so
I suspect when the network saw the show, they had a few small shots cut out that would have given away a possible ending so they could do a second season.
But having lived through that era, I can say they did it very well
Although it’s not a comedy, I had to laugh at all the references to other films of that genre, which reminded me of Stranger Things in some ways, but they limited jump scares, nudity, blood, and extreme violence and still put on a good show.
I take my hat off to the producers, directors, and writers
PS: The cast is good across the board, and this is Brice Campbell’s second best role after Bubba Ho Tep.
