Solve the mystery of a town in the middle of the USA that locks up anyone who enters. The site, known as Beaver Bank Villa, has a long history and many years ago contained housing units, a community hall, a fire station, a school, a church, a general store, etc.

The paved streets and alleys were all that remained and the fake city was built upon them.. When Boyd enters a distant tree, he finds himself at the bottom of a well. When Boyd emerges from the well, Martin is the only one in the room and he is chained to the wall.

Much better than I thought it would be based on some of the negative reviews here. So good that I devoured the first two seasons in one long weekend.

Very enjoyable and entertaining viewing

I can’t wait for season three to come out. A great premise for a show with some similarities to shows like Lost and Wayward Pines, but different enough that it doesn’t feel like I’m watching the same show. I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes horror/mystery shows with a bit of gore. I just hope there are more seasons or at least enough to get all the questions I still have answered.

In the winter of 1862, during the Civil War, the US

Army sends a company of volunteers to patrol the uncharted territory of the West. Minervini had a set built in Montana, then had the actors live there for two months. The dialogue and ideas expressed are those that the actors came up with while living in the wilderness and imagining themselves as Civil War soldiers.

All lack military experience, knowledge is shared and skills are passed down

The Damned: In the winter of 1862, a volunteer unit of Union soldiers is sent to defend a mountainous area, we are not told where it is, we are not even told the names of the soldiers. After the regular troops leave, they are subdued by a John Brown-style patriarch with a flowing beard, and his teenage sons are also enlisted. The soldiers are a mixed bunch, some middle-aged, even old, most in their thirties.

A buffalo is shot and killed

We witness mobile guards, long-range shots at horsemen. The bleak landscape, the hills, the mountain meadows, the drifting snow, the cold rations running out, add to the sense of existential despair. The battle is on, we see no enemy, we see the losses of the unit.

Some of them are welcome

War is hell, especially when you no longer know why you are there. A film very similar to Ken Loach without the everyday dialogue and with a lot of ordinary people playing, amateurs as soldiers. This improvisation leads to philosophical, religious and political discussions around campfires.

But that is a minor distraction from this raw depiction of men at war.

A singular profile of British pop superstar Robbie Williams.. The film arose from multiple interview recordings filmmaker Michael Gracey made with Robbie Williams during the course of a year and a half in Williams' recording studio in Los Angeles, United States. Although the interviews weren’t originally for a film, as Gracey "just wanted to capture [Williams] in his own voice telling his story," the majority of Williams' voiceover in the film is from those recordings.. Robbie Williams: If you’re gonna laugh, just do it on the inside, yeah?.

This movie is not what I was expecting

In a biopic of Robbie Williams, one would expect colour, theatrics, music and dancing and this movie doesn’t disappoint on spectacle. But where lesser biopics take you on a journey through an artists hits, this movie takes you on a journey through Robbie Williams psyche as he tries to come to terms with getting everything he ever wanted but feeling like he’s still not enough. The movie moves at break-neck pace and there are very few moments where the movie stops to breathe, yet it’s a credit to Michael Gracey and the team around him that the movie still packs powerful emotional punches. Jonno Davies is fantastic as Robbie, capturing his movements and idiosyncrasies perfectly.

The film benefits greatly from being an independent film

The team at Weta should also be commended for their incredible work transforming his performance into a chimpanzee that symbolizes how Robbie sees himself (a performing monkey, less evolved than those around him). Raechelle Banno plays Nicole Appleton (from All Saints) and puts in an emotional performance as Robbie’s fiancé. Her dance performance and the montage of their meeting is truly one of the highlights of the film. Steve Pemberton is perfect as Robbie’s father – the man who made him what he became in the worst way possible.

His singing and voice over work was also exceptional

It feels like the story Michael Gracey truly wanted to tell. The sex drugs and rock and roll are laid bare in all their grotesque glory. Robbie Williams himself should also be greatly commended for allowing the movie to lay all its flaws and mistakes at the feet of the audience. He does not come off well in large swathes of the movie and the movie is enhanced by his honesty with the audience.

I hope it achieves the success it deserves

This film is bombastic and in your face for almost the entire run time, yet much like the man it’s capturing, it has a sensitive soul just beneath all the bravado. It’s the best film of the year, a visual and auditory feast.

Armand, a 6-year-old boy, is accused of overstepping boundaries with his best friend in elementary school. Norway’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards in 2025. I understand why the film won the Golden Camera at Cannes 2024, but for God’s sake, I couldn’t watch the film halfway through. A single celebrity mother is called to her son’s school by an incompetent teacher-administrator duo to discuss an incident involving her son and his friend. It’s a great premise, and Armand caught my attention thanks to the great opening shot and overall camera work up until that point. But then the film veers into self-abuse territory, and I still have no idea what the director was going for, with a mix of sudden dance scenes and the actor laughing for 3 minutes. That’s where it all started, and it all got so frustrating that you never get over it. (Seen at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in 2024)
